This competition, launched in 1946 under the name of the legendary Austrian-born violinist Carl Flesh, is regarded as one of the three most important violin competitions of the world. The other two are Montreal Competition and Queen Elizabeth International Music Competition of Brussel. Famous winners are Maxim Vengerov and Dong-Suk Kang. Andrea Bang Prizes were presented to Kerry McDermott and Aleksei Sobolevsky, winners of 1984 competition.





This competition, launched in 1961 by Susan Wadsworth, has been the gateway to success for talented young musicians of the world. Through highly-competitive auditions, winners are selected every year. Among the alumni are Pinchas Zukerman and Chee-Yun of Korea. Two winners of 1997 audition received Andrea Bang Prize.
